ABOUT ME

Hey, I’m Maayke!

I am half Dutch, half English and grew up with a foot in both countries. I love the open road, talking to strangers, spending time by the sea and telling travel tales. But whenever I’m not telling a story, I’m writing one. Finding the right words to portray the sense of a place and its people is my favourite way of prolonging the thrill of travel.

As a writer, editor, and researcher I search for inspiring stories from all over the world. Travel, nature, culture or history, tell me a story you are passionate about and you have my undivided attention. No matter is too big, no adventure is too small. What I’m passionate about? Listening with intent, documenting the story and passing it on. Above all to make sure that whatever interests me, will fascinate others. 

I believe that as a content creator, I have the potential to spread a message that became very clear to me on my own pursuits across the planet. The message that as travellers and consumers we should not only want to explore and experience the wonders of our world but also illuminate and protect them. My intention as a writer is to inspire readers to embark upon their own adventure, to encourage people to broaden their horizons and perception of the world we live in and to activate humanity to preserve what we hold dear. 

I love to work with people and brands that have refreshing values, are passionate about their business or product and love what they do. With a background in creative writing for editorial pieces, television and documentaries, I know how to put any kind of story into words.
